Are we a God fearing nation?

31 Jan

I don’t think we are.  We give a lot of lip service that we are, but it really doesn’t matter what we say we believe if we don’t pass laws that support what we say.

Our forefathers placed the Constitution on the wall and wrote the Ten Commandments on the walls of the Supreme Court of the land.  Let’s just see what we believe.

You shall have no other gods before me.

Well what is a god?  Maybe a god is something that you believe in enough to worship it above most or all things.

Christians believe in God the omnipotent.

We believe that he created the universe.  God can do anything with a thought.

The question is; do we put God before money, the devil, possessions, status, or many other things that seem to be important.

You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Carved images are everywhere symbolizing what is as important or more important that the God we profess to believe in.

Do we keep these commandments?

  You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

This is common amount people who profess to be Christian.  If you say God’s name without a purpose, that is saying God’s name in vain.  Jesus said say simple yes or no.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Our Constitution refers to this commandment.  It is not counted as a work day.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Dishonoring parents is evident to many.  We have laws that say we must spare the rod.  Children to not have to be beaten, but it is our responsibility as Christian Parents that we must discipline our Children.

You shall not murder.

This one is talked about a lot, but not taken seriously.  Our Supreme Court says a baby is not a human being until they are in the second trimester.  I think it is about four days after the fertilization when the organizer shows up.

You shall not commit adultery.

Many of us are guilty of that.  Marriage is not important enough to us to respect the holy union.  This again is a parental management problem that should be solved.  Children are shown every day in life and in the media that marriage is just not important enough to take seriously.  In addition many states are passing laws that allow homosexuals to unit in marriage which cheapens the holy union on marriage even more.  I don’t have a problem with homosexuals uniting in some sort of legal contract to make themselves a legal union in the site of the law, but to call it marriage is blasphemy and unconstitutional.

You shall not steal.

This is simple, but in this country we seem to put degrees of stealing.  Cheating on your taxes, not taking overpayment back to the clerk if you receive too much change back, or anytime you cause a lose to someone that causes them financial difficulty to benefit you, you have just stolen something.  In turn we are teaching our children that it is okay to steal if you can get away with it.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Have we ever heard someone lie?  Of course we have.  The politicians do it all the time.  They even get caught and still insist they didn’t lie.  By example that lead the way for others to lie.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

We have all be envious of someone.  Everyone is guilty of this, but the Christian should clear his mind and be content with what God gives him.

Since we have all broken one or all of these commandments from time to time, it seems that we should be reminded of them often.  That was the idea behind displaying them in the first place, or holding church in the Capital Building which was done for many years.

In order to be good citizens of the United States we must become good Christians or abide by the spirit of these Ten Commandments.  Again I say we have to revisit this idea of impeding worship as stated in the Constitution.

Nine men and women cannot decide when a fetus becomes a child.  If it must be decided let the Congress pass a law that states clearly when that happens based on House and Senate hears from experts in that field.  Supreme Court Justices cannot do that because they go with the best argument and not the facts.

If we want to keep this nation we have to begin acting like we believe we have been put here for a reason, or God will simply take it away from us.

A challenge for Congress to Show Respect to the Nation

30 Jan

Many of the challenges the citizens of the United States go through are due to an inability to communicate in a meaningful way with those people who should be the closest to them.  We hear many ministers speak about the natural tendencies of babies to be bad when they come into this world, but I believe instead they natural tendencies of babies is to form methods that will get them the most attention to their survival needs.  If they feel the survival needs are met without the need for excessive actions on their part they become more mellow and passive.  If they feel they have to fight for the attention, food and comfort they tend to be more aggressive in their actions.

If you do not believe what I am writing is true just look at most any baby and begin talking to them or just look at them in a kind way and they will most of the time begin making cooing sounds or smiling and laughing.  The difference is the environment of the baby.  Normally a good environment produces a pleasant child and a harsh environment produces something in between good and evil.  However the families of those children would say not good or evil development, but easy and hard development.

If a child is raised in a loving environment the respect for the parents is strengthen and their instincts of survival are not needed as much because the parent are showing love and respect for the child.  If the love and respect is taken away their survival instincts become the main teaching source for their education.

The wealthy and the great middle class of the 40s and 50s had more of a ‘hands on’ role in the raising of the children.  Later on the less fortunate families had to have two incomes to survive.  Many times money was such an issue simple hired adult guidance was not affordable.  This is when the latchkey child was born.

The latchkey child was then raised then by the influences they encountered.  Either the grownup friend they will develop, the older child they will look to for guidance, or the influences around them become the teacher.  Since there is no prayer in school, the respect of a value based teacher is also not present.  The child does understand the parent should work to survive, but they miss the parental discipline, guidance, love and respect they need to grow their experience without making all the mistakes their parents made.  This absence of respect can very well lead a child to the hard survival instincts which in turn teach the child that they do not need to show others such as God, family, country, or friends respect.

We hear talk all day long every day from the radio, TV, friends, family and people just passing through our lives.  This is the normal, but how many people that are doing the talking know that half of a conversation is listening?  The child hears everything they see and read as fact.  It is easier for anyone to take the word of someone as fact than to research the subject for itself.  If the hearing is the only direct contact the child has to a subject, the tendency of the child is to accept the conclusions of others and let the information stop there.

The child at this point in its live has a relatively blank mind, few experiences, and little researched knowledge to draw from when making life decisions.  In the fifties and before, most schools began the day with a bible reading and prayer.  We children of the time didn’t understand the significance of this action and I am not sure that the teachers in general understood the significance until it was lost.

Children that entered school after that then faced a condition of working parent, a school without prayer, and basically turned to the only authority they thought they could trust.  That would be the government from local to national or drug dealers who help them get what they want.  The government demonstrates that it has no respect for its members, constituents, classes of people or people that didn’t vote or participate in any way.  The corporate body in the USA followed the governments lead and showed no respect for the government that licensed them to operate under the protection of the USA.  The drug community doesn’t have any respect for its customers other than the money the customers have to purchase their poison.

Now the children look to their parents who have been raised in this disrespectful society, the government that supports a disrespectful society, and the companies that employ their parents to get a sense of values that should be followed.

We are taught everyday by the politicians that are supposed to be leading this country out of financial chaos that if we stick to our core beliefs that eventually we will win.  This could be true if we had core beliefs that we demonstrated every day by doing good and proper things.  However this is not what happens.  The politicians do say that the citizens are important, but by their actions they clearly teach us that the average citizen of the United States has no value to them unless that citizen is producing money for the corporations that sponsored the politician.  This clearly sends the signal that money is more important than the “Ten Commandments”.  If we want to change the core belief of others we have to work on that from the bottom up.  From the top legislative positions in our country we can only create the conditions to bring about change.

The change we need is to recognize that the Supreme Court screwed up again and declared that it infringed on Christian’s rights to have prayers and Christian values taught in public schools.  It is like they never read the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.  It states the following,
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Remember this: “” href=””>Benjamin Franklin‘s

Poor Richard’s Almanac

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost;
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost;
For want of a horse, the rider was lost;
For want of a rider, the message was lost;
For want of the message, the battle was lost;
For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail

In this case the nail is our founder’s faith in God.  They didn’t want to establish that our people must worship God.  They wanted us to have a choice just as God gives us a choice of whether to worship God or not.

In the decision of the Supreme Court, the court exactly ruled against the constitution and prohibited the free exercise of worship. This is not just any worship, but the worship referred to in the Declaration of Independence which states “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator”.  It didn’t say some men.  It said all men’s Creator.  A very large and important war was fought over that principle.  The Declaration of Independence is and always will be part of the Constitution of the United States sealed by the blood of the men and women who died giving the Congress of the United States the privilege of writing such a document.

Much has been said about whether or not the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were or were not Christians.  That was settled when they all signed the documents.  Whether or not the States wanted to follow the Christian values was settled when they ratified the Constitution of the United States.  All those men were not Christian, I am sure, but they did recognize that this set of values and support from a high power was necessary to grow the nation.

The Nine Justices CAN be over turned by the people.  The congress represents the people.

The stuggle to become important

4 Jan

Congress has been hijacked.  The way the system of power in Congress works is that a group of people have an idea of how to govern the form a party to support that idea then have people that want to serve run as Representatives or Senators try to bring their ideas to the floor of the House or Senate.

If a party has becomes separated by two or more views which keep one part of the party from supporting the planks of the main party, the party splits and becomes another party.  All this activity gives the new party the growing pains it needs to become a strong political party.

The tea party (notice not capitalized) suffered not pain of growth.  It came into power without a support of the vote of people in a third party.  By simply attaching a point of view to the Republican Party it gained power without either the support of a separate party vote.  It didn’t enter the political seen on its own.  The Republican Party simply said this was a good idea, and so let us support them or we will lose our political advantage in Congress.

What has been lacking is the character which is fed by the struggle to get an idea across.  Our system of governing makes it hard to get a new idea embedded in our system of government.  There is a reason for that.  It is to keep us from changing course impulsively.

Think about it.
